Back when I was personally fulfilling orders, I kept noticing one name popping up again and again: Mick Giacchino. He enthusiastically bought every score we released.

Fast forward to 2023: I had a “brilliant” (read: ultimately failed) idea to compile a collection of Hollywood waltzes. You can probably guess which one topped the list. So, somewhat sheepishly, I reached out to Mick to ask if he happened to be related to the Michael Giacchino. (Spoiler: he is.)

I politely pitched him the waltz idea and asked if he’d be willing to share it with his father. To my surprise, Michael was intrigued. With my foot in the door, I figured—why stop there? I suggested we publish the entire score.

I applied for a license in November 2023. But due to staff changes, my emails went unanswered for months. Finally, in fall 2024, Disney gave the green light.

Engraving was straightforward—most of the material was already in Sibelius. Booker White generously sent over the session parts, and since Disney scans them upon return, all the players’ markings were preserved.

As you might expect, Disney holds incredibly high standards for quality and accuracy. The approval process was long and meticulous, with many eyes on it—including Pixar’s.

But I’m happy to report: everyone, including the composer himself, was more than pleased with the final result.
